Lembongan

A view of the biggest and baddest volcano on Bali, Mt. Agung, from the commuter boat to Nusa Lembongan.

Ya. This is what Bali looked like in my head. Perhaps Bali did look like this once. White sand beaches, crystal waters, lush green mountains, magical cliffs and mysterious caves. And friendly people.

I’m not a diary-keeper, a blog writer, a storyteller, or even a good share-er. But I do love order and amongst this chaotic land of Bali it is becoming a necessity that I hold on to something. There are negligible traffic rules (one new friend’s advice before my first motorbike ride-just don’t look back, nobody else does), indefinable directions (nothing is where it is supposed to be and everything has at least 2 names), endless religious celebrations (Hindus make offerings before every meal, Muslims are continually called to prayer) and seemingly limitless core strength (wait for the pics of what these women balance on their heads). Even time itself is not dependable here. I crave structure… and sometimes pasta.

The purpose of this site is simply to share photos and maybe an occasional interesting sentence. Check in with me on your lunch break, or when you want to procrastinate…but not for too long. Comments encouraged.
